SOAL:

The charts below show the sources of electricity in France in 1990 and 2010.

Pada tahun 1990, listrik di Prancis berasal dari:

• Coal
• Gas
• Nuclear
• Hydro
• Other Renewables

Pada tahun 2010, sumber listrik berubah signifikan: Nuclear meningkat besar-besaran, Coal dan Gas menurun, Hydro naik sedikit, dan sumber terbarukan lainnya meningkat perlahan.

Tugas:
Tulislah 150 kata yang menjelaskan tren dan perubahan utama dari dua grafik tersebut.

 

Sample Answer (Band 7+)

The charts compare the sources of electricity production in France in 1990 and 2010. Overall, nuclear power became the dominant energy source over the two decades, while the use of coal and gas declined.

In 1990, coal contributed the largest share of electricity generation, followed closely by gas and nuclear power. Hydro and other renewable sources accounted for only a small proportion of the total output.

By 2010, nuclear power had increased dramatically and became the main source of electricity in France. Meanwhile, both coal and gas experienced noticeable decreases. Hydro power saw a slight rise, and other renewables grew modestly.

In summary, France shifted from relying heavily on fossil fuels to depending primarily on nuclear energy, with renewable sources showing gradual but limited growth.

 

WRITING TASK 2 – Academic / GT

SOAL:

Many people believe that technology has made communication easier, while others think it has made social interactions less personal.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Minimum 250 kata.

 

Sample Answer (Band 7–7.5)

Technology has transformed the way people communicate. While some argue that it has made communication easier and more convenient, others believe that it has reduced the quality of social interaction. Both perspectives will be discussed before presenting a personal view.

On the one hand, technology has simplified communication in various ways. Messaging apps, video calls, and social media enable people to connect instantly across long distances. Families who live far apart can stay in touch regularly, and businesses can operate globally with ease. As a result, communication today is faster, cheaper, and more accessible than ever.

On the other hand, some people feel that technology has made social interactions less personal. Many individuals prefer sending short messages instead of having face-to-face conversations, which can weaken emotional connection. Social media also encourages quick and superficial interactions, and people may spend more time on their phones than engaging with those around them.

In my view, technology is beneficial for communication as long as it is used wisely. People should maintain a balance between online and real-life interactions so they can enjoy the advantages of technology without losing meaningful personal connections.

 

Writing Task

Task 1 (General Training):

You recently moved to a new city and want to join an English course.
Write a letter to the course provider. In your letter:

• explain why you want to join the course
• describe your English level
• ask for course details

 

Task 2 (Academic/GT):

Some people believe schools should teach practical skills such as fixing cars or managing money. Others think academic subjects are more important.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
